Scantrust is seeking a hands-on Deployment Engineer based in Shanghai to support the implementation and operation of our Digital Product Identity platform at customer production facilities in Asia and Australia/New Zealand. This role combines software deployment, hardware integration, and occasional on-site support.
You will report to the Backend Team Lead and work closely with our experienced Project Managers to ensure smooth and successful deployments. You will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the hardware and software components that connect customer production lines to Scantrust’s cloud platform. This includes working with industrial printers, barcode scanners, laser marking systems, and backend services exposed via REST APIs.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working both with software systems and physical production equipment, and enjoys solving practical integration challenges in manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
Deployment and Integration
- Deploy and configure Scantrust software and manage system integration, providing remote and on-site guidance to customer production, engineering, and IT teams
- Integrate production line equipment (laser printers, barcode scanners, vision systems, controllers) with Scantrust’s cloud platform
- Connect and configure systems using REST APIs to enable secure communication between production lines and backend services
- Configure and troubleshoot connectivity between local production systems and AWS-based backend infrastructure
- Install and configure local gateway software, services, and device communication interfaces
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers to execute deployment plans and timelines
Software and Infrastructure
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Python-based services and integration tools
- Work with REST APIs for system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and validation
- Configure AWS-connected systems and ensure secure, reliable data transmission
- Support system updates, patches, and configuration changes
- Actively monitor system performance and reliability
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
- Ensure reliable operation of serialization, QR code printing, and verification processes
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to hardware, software, API connectivity, and network infrastructure
- Investigate and resolve deployment and integration issues both remotely and on-site
- Perform root cause analysis across hardware, software, network, and API layers
- Provide technical support during customer production ramp-up and ongoing operations
- After-sales support with monitoring, troubleshooting and upgrading
Documentation and Collaboration
- Document deployment procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps
- Work closely with the Backend Team Lead on integration requirements and technical coordination
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Customer Support to ensure timely and successful delivery of customer deployments
- Provide feedback to improve deployment tools, APIs, processes, and product reliability
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Experience working with industrial automation, manufacturing IT, production line equipment environments
- Hands-on experience installing and configuring hardware such as:
- Barcode scanners
- Laser coders or laser marking systems
- Industrial printers
- Vision or scanning systems
- Experience working with REST APIs is required, including testing, integration, and troubleshooting
- Basic to intermediate Python knowledge
- Familiarity with networking concepts (IP, TCP/IP, ports, firewalls, routing)
- Experience integrating local systems with cloud-based SaaS platforms
Additional qualifications
- Familiarity with AWS is strongly preferred
- Experience with Linux systems and command line tools is preferred
- L0-L5 ISA-95 deployments
- Experience with digital ID and serialization, labeling, or track-and-trace systems,
Professional Skills
- Comfortable working in factory and production environments
- Hands-on, practical problem-solving mindset
- Ability to work independently and manage on-site deployments
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with engineering and project teams
- Professional working proficiency in English
- Though it is a plus, fluency in Mandarin is not required

Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains Tableau and icCube dashboards to visualize business metrics, automate reporting, and ensure accurate, up-to-date data from PostgreSQL and Redshift.
- Collaborates with business and analytics teams to design insightful visualizations, define KPIs, and support ad-hoc analytical needs.
- Ensures data transparency and reliability by documenting dashboard logic, data sources, and contributing to consistent data pipeline maintenance.
- Implement backend (Django Rest Framework) feature tickets following existing design principles and dev guidelines, including documenting said features.
- Continuously improve and maintain data flows from the backend production database to BI reporting sets.
- Act as a point of contact for backend – data related questions and support other teams with backend related issues and requests.
Experiences & Education
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- 1+ years of Python or other backend development experience
- 1+ years of SQL experience
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems
- Experience with Postgres or Redshift is a plus
- Experience with Tableau is a plus
- Experience with AWS services and systems is a plus
